Yes it is! My 8.1.6EE is running well on Solaris7_x86 (4CPU). So far so good...(I am also running the same on sparc) The only pros of Oracle8.x on Solaris_x86 is that the OPS and LSM are not ported on it. I am not sure about those to server options for Linux.
