I worked for Wal-Mart for 3.5 years. (major hellhole, btw). WM has over 2500 stores, each with their own Unix server running Informix version 7. The Home Office has a mixture of legacy mainframe, lots of Unix running Informix 7 on a mixture of HP, NCR, and very few AIX machines. I am not aware of any Oracle in the entire shop, although I think a few teams evaluated it a bit.
And yes, they have Teradata for their data warehouse stuff.
