Failed Upgrade to 8.1.6; need help

hello all,

I've tried to upgrade one of our databases to 8.1.6 from 8.1.5 and upon a 'successful' completion (as per Oracle), when I started running the user apps, I got:

ORA-06553: PLS-908 The stored format of sys.standard is not supported by this release.

From the notes on this newsgroup, I tried to run @catproc which started giving me errors such as
"ORA-06554: package DBMS_STANDARD must be created before using PL/SQL create or replace"

any help is much appreciated.
