In 8.1.5 (the first version having the ORB) performance wasn't terrific
individually although it scales really well. Raw performance is better
in 8.1.6 and will undoubtedly be even better still in subsequent
releases. I suspect that getting it working was the target for the
first release and getting it working better will be targeted for the
follow on releases.
