Inserting "Infinity"

How can I insert the value "infinity" into a field using SQL?



Oracle documentation for numbers notes that the internal
representation can store and distinguish infinity and minus infinity.



The infinity value can be inserted using Java.



When I dump an infinit value I get Typ=2 Len=2: 255,101



When I select an infinite value I get ~.



Any help would be appreciated.
