Backup question

Hi

I hope you don't get mad, I'm learning about DBA. I was reading a lot about Backups and I have a TERRIBLE doubt. Should I backup or not the online redo log files (*.log) in my hot or cold backups?
In some internet places it says yes, but in other places it says no, what should I do?
