Did anyone already face this situation:
I have a customer that uses 7.3.3.0.0 multiple instances databases on HP-UX
10.20 with Oracle Trace enabled.
After installing a monitoring tool that in particular does some initial SQL
queries to the system tables, all connections to the database get slowed
down. For instance, sqlplus ran local on the HP box will take about 20
minutes before connecting. They use TCP/IP or IPC connections, no BEQueath
connections. Once connected, everything works fine and SQL queries won't
take any extra time as usual to complete.
Even a system reboot won't change anything !
One knows that HP-UX is not the most suitable platform for Oracle 7.3.3
which is confirmed by Oracle alert :
(Doc ID: Note:60768.1 - BUG 518728 ) for 7.3.3 and above on HP 10.20 :
UNABLE TO LOCK SGA which stands :
"When the customer attempts to lock the SGA and start the database, SQLPLUS
and/or SERVER MANAGER session will hang. Only a system reboot will kill the
hanging process"
which is corrected by HP Patch Kernel PHKL_15082.
One also knows that Tracing is sometimes tricky on 7.3.X which is confirmed by Oracle Alert (Doc ID: Note:1020763.6 & Doc ID: Note:45482.1) : CONNECTION/QUERY TIME IS SLOW OR ORA-07337 WHEN STARTING DATABASE & ORACLE TRACE IS ENABLED BY DEFAULT which stands : " Widespread use of Oracle Trace can have a number of apparently mysterious side effects including:
I could actually reproduce Zero length trace files with 7.3.3.0.0 on Solaris
2.5.1, not the slow connection time.
Everything works fine for the same customer with 7.3.4.X on HP-UX 10.20.
Did you guys already faced such situations, in particular very slow
connection times ?
Which platform and Oracle version ?
Thank you,
