Hi there,
I am running Oracle 7.3.4.4 on AIX 4.2.1 on a test machine. I have a 2Gb datafile, and I want to resize it to 2.1Gb in order to recreate a crash I got on my production machine last week. (Just in order to validate the crashconditions, and then to apply and verify the patch I've been given by Oracle).
My problem is that when I type:
ALTER DATABASE DATAFILE '...' RESIZE 2100M;
I get an unexpected error message:
"ORA-9972 sfsfs:unable to resize a file smaller" (my file is only
2000M...!!!)
There is not file limit set on the OS side, and I have 200Mb free space in the filesystem.
This command worked fine on my production machine (well, actually it fucked up the database, but that's precisely what I'm trying to do, to validate the patch.)
Any help would be appreciated.
Laurent.
