It would be better idia to address that question to Oracle Support but I
would not risk anyway to maintain a standby database (wich is production as
well) for the production master database on different server version even on
the same port version. Also I believe that standby internals implementation
in 8i has changed comparing with 8.0.x and they are not compatible.
