This is just for anyone else who may want to rename the server that has Oracle 7.3.4 server installed:
The listener.ora file needed to be updated with the new server name, then the tnsnames.ora also needed to be updated. The listener and tnsnames on the other oracle servers/clients across the network also required updating.
