We're using the Veritas stuff. Took quite some time by Veritas' own consultants to get configured right on our 2 E4500's. I'm not the one who maintains it, but I believe it did skip the need for us using the auto standby feature of 8i, or whatever that feature is formally termed. Its failover features have worked very well since we got it running (we've already needed it a number of times as we've lost 9 disks and 2 motherboards -- must be the humidity in our server room, I'd hate to think most Sun hardware is this faulty).
