Hi. I have been trialling Personal Oracle 8.0.3 recently. Now i have an install CD for 8.0.4, but the installer version on the CD is 3.3.0.1.3. This abends as did all the installers this century until i got 3.3.1.2.4. However if i try and fire up the local installer, then install from the CD, I get a message saying 'You may not use your local copy of the Oracle Installer to install the products you have selected. To install those products, you must use the Oracle Installer included on the distribution media'.
Does anyone know how to get round this? Can I just copy the contents of the CD to a hard drive and update the install directory with the latest installer...or is there another trick? All help gratefully received, etc
