Top notch !!

Supplementary question then - in the Oracle Tuning manuals for 8.0 and 8.1 in the section on 'Tuning DBWn I/O' it mentions the Internal Write Batch Size. It then defines this as having the smaller value of three possible sources A B and C.

I can calculate the value A (DB_FILES * DB_FILES_SIMULATEOUS_WRITES / 2). I have even less trouble calculating the value of C (1/4 of DB_BLOCK_BUFFERS). But finding the value of C from 'Oracle platform specific documentation' is the real 'toughie'.

We use OpenVMS on VAX and ALPHA,

            Tru64UNIX on ALPHA
& Windows NT & 95 on Compaq Intel

And I am having considerable trouble finding the appropriate figure from the documentation for each platform. Is it possible you know the answers of better the location in the manuals of the answers.

Thanks in advance

Regards
