JDBC OCI Driver Crash

I'm having a problem with the Oracle 8.0.5 OCI driver (NB not the Thin driver - this works fine). Using it with the JDBC Explorer in JBuilder causes JBuilder to crash with an access violation as soon as I try to open a connection. Any ideas? Is there an incompatibility between JDK versions or something?

Also, I want to use the OCI driver for connecting from a web server, where I can happily install all the SQL Client software - I'm assuming the OCI driver is more efficient than the Thin - anyone got any info on this?
