Lessons Learned

I was not doing the server manager commands right. Once I issued CONNECT / SYSDBA I could start the database.

I still cannot start Oracle at boot time, but it turns out its a problem with my LD_LIBRARY_PATH. When I start the boot process manually

/etc/rc.d/init.d/dbora start

And my Library Path is not set, I get an error. When I set the variable and re-issue the command it works.

I just need to figure out why my Library Path variable is not set during the boot process. I tried setting it in the dbora script and then exporting it, but it didn't work.
