Badly placed ()'s in SSH

I am trying to do some command through ssh

ssh sws_at_192.168.1.17 'exp swfootball/passwod tables=(user_details, user_data) file=$FN compress=n direct=y'

and get this error right away:
Badly placed ()'s

Can anybody help me resolve this issue (preferable through e-mail)

In case I forgot to mention:
We use Oracle 7.3.4 on Solaris 2.6, 2.7 boxes
