reliability of Oracle 8i under Linux

Hi all!

Our company have to make decision which platform to use for our database servers.
Now we are thinking about Linux. But there are some doubt. Some people says that Oracle on Linux is currently raw and cannot be used for serious system with high requrements of reliability. Does anybody use Oracle on linux (8i in the first order) for large projects? Can you share your impressions with the me and give examples of such systems? Have our doubts any basis?
