This nuber of processes is quite normal on a running unix/oracle database,
plus you need one unix process per connect
check your init file to see how many process you have allowed, 50 is a good
minimum for small databases. If you are installing an OEM repository 250
processes is recomended.
You also need to determine if your Unix kernel build has sufficient semaphores. Essentially you need one semaphore available for every unix process. If you do not have sufficient semaphores you will have to regen your kernel
