Related to my earlier post ("Bug with relinking"), ...

... you installed oracle and did not install the options, and then applied the 8.1.5.0.2 patch, running svrmgrl will give an error:

ORA-12545 Connect failed because target host or object does not exist.

This error does not seem to happen if you install the oracle options (because the relinking would work) This may be related to the relinking problem/bug if none of the options are installed.

This happened just after:
* installting oracle 8.1.5.0.0 with all visible options deselected

All of my env variables are set.

In fact, instead of running the cumulative patch:
* go to 81501/

Again, this may be related to the relinking problem if some or all of the options are not installed.
