Oracle EE 8.0.5 on Slackware seg fault

I have tried many variations on installing this combination as well as i8.1.5. 
I can to the point of mounting and opening a database, but sqlplus gives
Segmentation default.  I'm using Slackware version 7.0.   I hope this is enough
information.



Any suggestions?
