I'm running 8.1.5 on a Solaris 2.6 Sun 2000 with 4 processors and 1.5 gigs of RAM, and have never experienced such a problem in over 6 months of production.

Our load isn't excessive at all, but your problem sounds as if it happens at random. Have you checked out the hardware?

I have issues of maturity with 8.1.5 myself, but not of this magnitude. --
