My Oracle8i enterprise installation in an Intel X86 Solaris7 system went successful at the installation and linking stages. however, when choosing the optional Configuration Assistant to create a default database, there are some problems appearing:

  1. when doing the Net8 Configuration Asisstant, it is OK
  2. when doing Oracle Database Configuration assistant, it successes in creating and starting oracle instance; copying database files; but fails in initializing database, it displays an error message: ORA:-03114 not connected to ORACLE.
  3. when ignoring the error, the system finished the installation and displays success with warning.

I checked the there are no control files and redo log files installed, the datafiles are there. So I cannot start mount the database.

Any suggestions are appreciated.
