Hello:

I have a seemingly clean export file done on HPUX 11.00, Oracle 8.0.4.0.0:

Connected to: Oracle8 Enterprise Edition Release 8.0.4.0.0S - Production With the Partitioning and Objects options PL/SQL Release 8.0.4.0.0S - Production
Export done in US7ASCII character set and US7ASCII NCHAR character set

About to export specified tables via Conventional Path ...
. . exporting table RA_SIM_ICC_FORMAT 3 rows exported
. . exporting table RA_SIM_PORECEIPT_ALL 221 rows exported
. . exporting table RA_SIM_POTRAILER_ALL 271 rows exported
. . exporting table RA_SIM_PO_HEADER_ALL 116 rows exported
Export terminated successfully without warnings

But this same seemingly clean export file CANNOT be imported into another HP platform running HPUX 10.20, Oracle 8.0.5.0.0:

lab::/tmp $ imp parfile=imp.par

Import: Release 8.0.5.0.0 - Production on Thu Dec 16 10:46:36 1999

(c) Copyright 1998 Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved.

Connected to: Oracle8 Enterprise Edition Release 8.0.5.0.0 - Production With the Partitioning and Objects options PL/SQL Release 8.0.5.0.0 - Production

IMP-00010: not a valid export file, header failed verification
IMP-00021: operating system error - error code (dec 2, hex 0x2)
IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully
lab::/tmp $

Was it because Oracle export/import OS dependent (from 32 bits machine --> 64 bits machine or vice versa), although every single Oracle book I read says otherwise??

Any suggestion / comment / sharing / indication are most welcome.

Thank you all, have a wonderful day.

Regards,
