Hi,

I have a question about the DBSHUT command.

I am currently running an oracle database (version 8.1.5) on Sun Solaris box using UNIX.

I would like to know what type of Oracle shutdown is "dbshut", is it "Normal", "Transactional" or "Abort".

My reason for asking is that I want to write a script to take automated cold DB backups and I am unsure whether the dbshut command will shutdown the database in "normal" mode or will there be a chance that I could loose any uncommitted transactions ???

Regards
