Make sure that the entry in tnsnames.ora is labelled in the form <sid.domain>. The domain
being the default domain name as defined in the names.default_domain parameter in the sqlnet.ora
file, this defaults to world.

For example, if the SID of the instance is FRED, the tnsnames entry must be named FRED.world.
