Session dies w/o error?

Hi,

We have been having a problem with PL/SQL that we run on our server. It seems that we have a memory problem or a conflict with the O/S. What is happening is that from time to time we find our session "hangs" while executing a stored procedure and then while monitoring the session in Top session manager, the session disappears with no error sent back to the client machine. This leaves the client machine in a "query executing" state so we have to ctl-alt-del to dismiss the client program.

We have found that this problem is quirky in that it doesn't seem to have a pattern. For example, we run the PL/SQL in a script outside of a stored procedure and it runs perfectly fine but when run as a procedure we get the above reaction. Also we have found that sometimes a procedure that runs fine when executed from the command line will perform similar to the problem above when run through the job queue as a background process.

We are running Oracle 7.3.2 on Windows NT on both production and development environments. Both machines perform the same way. Can some one relate to this problem?? We are just about stumped.

Thanks for any help in advance.
