We run our production OLTP system on a HP9000 K370 (single CPU) using Oracle 7.3.4.4, works fine. Maximum concurrent users that I have seen is around 160. Database is around 10Gb in size. Spread over 4 logical disks (EMC Symmetrix Hyper-volumes RAID-1). Development is done on a HP9000 D250 which is under powered for running Oracle Designer 1.3.2. (versioning in particular).
