If you were able to install Oracle 8i on Linux then I guess you have successfully installed the patch. When we start svrmgrl it says: Oracle8i Enterprise Edition release 8.1.5.0.1 - production with the partitioning and java options
pl/sql release 8.1.5.0.0 - production

So I think this is what you should get also.
