Sizing stripes for RAID5

I'm trying to arrive at an optimum size of a stripe on a RAID5 system. What are the relevant parameters to consider?

Here are the particulars of my situation: Application: DSS on Oracle 8.0.3 (1.7TB) Oracle DB_BLOCK_SIZE: 16k
Platform: IRIX on SGI Origin 200 (8 CPUs)

XFS filesystem
I am not sure about the IO read block size (64K?)

Should the stripe size be the same as IO read block size?
