Hi everyone. Net8 open is an API to NET8, so that it is possible to use sql*net from non-Oracle toolsets, such as VB for example.

I have a couple of questions:

  1. Is NET8 OPEN a set of C libraries?
  2. Can I access NET8 Open from any language whatsoever, or only certain pre-defined languages -Can I access from scripting languages say, such as Javascript.
  3. I now have several options of accessing Oracle from say Visual Basic. I can use ODBC, Oracle Objects for OLE or Net8 Open. What are the advantages of the various options, and how should I decide which to use?
  4. Has anyone used NET8 Open for RPC calls to a server, so as to initiate (from a client PC) say an operating system batch file on the server? If so, any help as to what needs to be done would be great. What do I need on the server - A listener?

Sorry for the detailed questions and Thanks.
