ORACLE:8i OS :red hat Linux 6.0

          I have 2 local oracle databases . Both target and catalog database are on the same machine .There is no tcp-ip connection, they are using ipc protocol. The connecttions work fine and all patches have been applied and both the databases 1 & 2 are up & fine.

          Problem: Trying to get rman to work.
          status: did evrything according to the blessed manual. the
connection to the catalog works fine. However when I try to register the database , this is what I get:
          RMAN> register database;
          RMAN-03022: compiling command: register
          RMAN-03023: executing command: register
          RMAN-03026: error recovery releasing channel resources
          RMAN-00571:

RMAN-00569: =============== ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS =============== RMAN-00571:

I checked metalink and oerr , the error ora 65535 doesnt exist. Does anybody have any useful suggestions ? Does rman need a tcp-ip connection? TIA RAJA Quote message in reply
