All Oracle guru,

My server suddenly hit on this serious problem and can't start up again. The scenario is:

When I do startup, it reports no error. But after a while, all the oracle process dies. I tracked down to the alert.log, it refers to the smon trace file. Look into the smon trace files, it has:

...

kvotlgev: epc event: 10 failed. EPC error: 167
... (memory dump)

My setup is:

Oracle 8i (8.1.5), Solaris 2.7, Sun Ultra-1, 512M RAM.

Pls. throw in whatever idea you may have and let me try. Pls. do also email me to wilson_at_isilk.com also. Thanks a zillion.

Thanks.
