Have U configured the DSN and tnsnames.ora properly ? Also check out can you tnsping your ora db by using tnsping80 <tns_name>..
tnsnames.ora is in $ORACLE_HOME\net80\admin dir tnsping80 is in $ORACLE_HOME\bin
