Hi,

 hard so say what might be wrong from that description.  some things to look at:

• messages in your alertlog file.
• file priv's. (owner, permissions)
• oracle software owner
• ressource allocation to oracle software owner (cpu, memory)
• renamed files (perhaps they are in a different library now)
