OK, so what's the issue with using snapshots? If you are doing this continuously, you can either do it synchronously using triggers, or asynchronously using snapshots. The problem with the synchronous approach is that an insert into the source table can fail because the trigger fails when the network is down. The problem with snapshots is that the data may be temporarily out of synch between the two systems. What are the business needs you're trying to meet?
