Hi,

I try to install Oracle 8i for Linux on RedHat 6.1, using the install/linux/runIns.sh script. But after 72% of installation the installation failed.

The RedHat 6.1 is strictly out of box installation. Follow the 8.1.5 FAQ, the 8.1.5 release note, the 8.1.5 installation guide.

When the installation failed, I got a lot of java error, don't understand it coz, I'm not good with java, but seem like an AWT error. There is one time where I did not specify the DISPLAY=host:0.0 env, and the X server core dump this is no GNOME, and on KDE, it hang the server totally, with the X server bink a patch of white screen

It happen on both jre 1.1.6 and jre 1.1.7. haven't try the 1.2 yet.

My selection for the Oracle 8i installation is custom, where I select all the component listed. Since than I have gone back using Oracle 8i on the RedHat 6.0. It seem that it try to update the graphics of installation percentage but, could not update the windows.

Is anybody have sucessfully installed Oracle 8i (8.1.5) on the RedHat 6.1 ?, any clue, any step-by-step instruction.

Thanks for any info

Regards
