oracle/linux 8.0.5 to 8i db migration... need help!

hi all! i have a redhat 6.0 server running oracle 8.0.5. i have successfully installed 8i on this server running , but when i chose to migrate the existing database during the 8i install, it failed. i have tried the migration tool that comes with 8i, but i am running into problems.

has anyone had any success with this? can someone help out? i really need to upgrade this server, but of course, successful migration is key! =)
