Oracle 8i install problems

I cannot install Oracle 8i on my Windows NT 4.0 SP4 workstation (192MB of RAM and enough Disk space). It consistently fails with this msg in the log file:

Starting install install phase 2 of component Oracle8i Enterprise Edition
Initializing installer save inventory WCCE Error :*** Alert: Problem in saving inventory. Installation cannot continue. write error ***
User selected: Yes/OK

These are the very last lines in the log file. Any help is appreciated. TIA
