Alton,
Although we finally renamed our server without any problem, I haven't thought about filename with embedded server name. I guess you will have to change them.
On another O/S, we do store/restore of Oracle DB (7.3.2), for dev/test purpose, and I have to change the filenames too. Here is the sequence: store on tape,
restore on different location,
adjust location of controlfile in the init file startup mount exclusive
alter database rename file 'oldname' to 'newname';

    for each occurence of v$datafile.name and v$logfile.name alter database open
