RAID5 arrays on AIX

We're using an Oracle database that has it's datafiles configured on a RADI5 array in an SSA cabinet.

We're experiencing a high amount of IO waits at seemingly low IO rates.

What is the write/read rate for RAID5 on SSA? Is RAID5 compatible with an Oracle database with any number of users or IO pressure?

An example of the IO problem is shown below in some iostat output;tty: tin tout avg-cpu: % user % sys % idle % iowait

         27.0 732.0 8.2 2.5 41.0 48.2

Disks: % tm_act Kbps tps Kb_read Kb_wrtn
hdisk0 0.0 0.0 0.0 0 0

hdisk5 0.0 4.0 1.0 0 4
hdisk6 0.0 0.0 0.0 0 0
cd0 0.0 0.0 0.0 0 0

Does anyone have any experience of Oracle on RAID5 on AIX?
