Hello,
I come from DB2. I would like to know online hotbackup (archivelog mode).
In order for Oracle database to restore successfully, I need controlfile, datafiles, and also archived redologs. Am, i right?
I've backuped my database using NT backup manager (Oracle version 8.05 NT). I can only manage to backup tablespaces and controlfile. So, where or what should I do with the redolog files.
Below is the output of my backup
001=TBLS-1999-11-4,14:41:48 002=TBLS-1999-11-4,14:43:35 003=TBLS-1999-11-4,14:44:2 004=TBLS-1999-11-4,14:44:40 005=CNTL-1999-11-4,14:45:7
What should I do, to restore my database (until point-in-time) if disaster occurs. I've read a few books on backup/recovery strategy but I'm still confuse over this.
Can anyone give me a clear explaination.
your help is much appreciated
