Connecting to O8i as a proxy

In Oracle 8i the SQL ALTER USER command has a proxy clause that "controls the ability of a
proxy (an application or application server) to connect as the specified user." But this just sets up a permission. I can find no information on how the actual connection to the database is made. How do I tell Oracle that, although I'm really John, I want to connect as Bob. I'm particularly interested in how this might be done using JDBC. Received on Thu Oct 28 1999 - 18:47:14 CDT
