Hi all,
What is the Maximum allowed Raw device File Size for Oracle 7 and Oracle 8 Database Server on Sun Solaris 2.7 ?
I've heard of Solaris Kernel Panics with Raw devices of Size around/over 4GB with lower Solaris versions ?

Also, Is there any Known drawback in Using such big Files in a database. The file is going to be Striped across many disks anyway.

Thanks for any inputs..
