Permanent disk writing

Hi


I have an stand alone oracle 8.0.5 server with no users conected
and there is permanent disk writing to the files ora_control1 and
ora_control2 (the disk LED lights once a second). When I
shutdown the oracle instance this writing dissapears.
Is it normal?
