Is it essential to use MTS with Oracle for an E-commerce application?

I have an e-commerce application which would access a database. Is it
possible to use only a single database connection to get info from the
database for all those who visit the site? is there a solution other
than using Ms Transaction Server as  the hits would not be
more than 30 per day ?
