Unfortunately, I'm using oracle 7 and the "use_shared_socket" fix is for oracle8 ... does anyone know of anything that can work with oracle 7? Netstat shows me that the oracle server is using all sorts of ports, it looks totally random.

I am using a linux firewall and have total control over it. I can use tnsping on the oracle server but of course can't open a session.

Isn't there some way you can tell oracle7 which ports to use?
