Q: working ODBC (Urgent!) for Oracle 8i

I heard that there is something wrong with Microsoft something (dunno what) and thus ODBC driver for oracle 8 does not support SDO_GEOMETRY data types. Is this true, and if so, is there alternative (AND WORKING) solution to get connected to spatial cartridge data via ODBC. Any help, suggestions or hints appreciated
