Hi, I hope this is the right ng,
A couple of months ago I received "Oracle 8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.5" for Win NT. I am currently running Win NT 4.0 SP3. I have also received the same product for Linux, however, my concern now is with the NT install. For various reasons, using this product has only now become feasible, however i am curious as to whether there are any patches, service packs, etc that are needed (I have heard, for example, that a patch is required for the Linux edition if you move to RedHat 6.x, I assume this relates to the kernel). I will be upgrading to SP5 on the NT box. Are there any problems here anyone is aware of - at least as they relate to 8i? My intention here to first install oracle 8i and do some work with it. However, the longer-term need here is using the SAS/Access product to work with oracle databases. I have a copy of "Oracle 8i: A beginner's Guide", and of course, the online docs that came with the CD. Anyone else done/doing this? Any warnings/horror stories? Apologies for the rather open-ended nature of this question, but once the new HD is in, I'm planning to install and see what happens (hey, what's the worst that can happen? - fdisk the whole thing and start over?) Still, any advice would be _welcome_. Thanks,
