I would say that it is worth it. It really makes you study things in detail and think through why the database does what it does. You will be surprised how many people don't know why the database does what it does. (Even with 8 or 9 years of experience). I know that it will probably benefit younger guys like me more than the experienced veterans, but it still doesn't hurt to have that.

All you have to do is put it on your resume and not even mention it unless someone does. If they do, maybe you can leverage it for higher rates/salary. Anyway, that is my .02 cents worth on the issue. BTW, I have almost obtained my Oracle 7 and 8 certification and it has helped me out tremendously.
