Linux Question (was Oracle 8.0.5.0.0 & GLIBC21 ???)

Reading this thread, I want to ask a slightly off-topic question. I installed Oracle 8.0.5 on Redhat Linux 6.0 with glibc patch. Does this mean my gcc compiler changes to the old version? I.e., if I compile and install anything else, will the make build a binary as if it was using an old version C compiler?

Thanks for a reply.
